How Taxes Work in Croatia
Employee

- ·Health insurance (HZZO 16.5%) is employer-paid and not deducted from your salary.

- ·Same two brackets: 20%/30% with €7,200 personal allowance.
- ·Social contributions are fixed monthly: ~€291/month (€3,492/year) covering pension pillar I (€119.58), pillar II (€39.86), and health (€131.54).
- ·Business expenses deducted from actual receipts (not modeled as flat rate).
- ·Alternative: paušalni obrt (lump-sum sole trader) available for revenue under €60,000/year — fixed quarterly income tax + fixed SS contributions, but doesn't fit percentage-based modeling.
